Iron Infusions
An iron infusion delivers iron directly into a vein through a drip. Your doctor may recommend one if blood tests show low iron and tablets haven't worked, can't be tolerated, or your iron levels need to be raised more quickly.
Initial consultation
You'll see a doctor at the Centre first. They will review your blood tests and medical history, check whether an infusion is right for you, explain the benefits and risks, and ask for your consent.

Your infusion
Your infusion is booked on a separate day and given at the Centre by a doctor or nurse. You'll be observed for a short time afterwards.
2
Booking
You'll need a referral and recent blood test results. Call (02) 5114 3320 or email admin@monaroconsultingsuites.com.au to book. GPs can send referrals and blood results by HealthLink or to the same email.

• A list of your current medicines

Things to know: iron infusions carry some risks. These include a small risk of permanent brown staining of the skin where the drip goes in, and allergic reactions. Your doctor will go through these with you before treatment.
